About

Founded in 2023, A Balance for MS Foundation (ABFMS) was created from lived experience and a deep commitment to advocacy. Our mission is that no one should face Multiple Sclerosis (MS) alone. Inspired by Founder JuJuan Mitchell’s diagnosis in 2008, the organization is rooted in resilience, awareness, and support. Alongside Co-Founder Cynthia Daniel-Williams, ABFMS is dedicated to empowering individuals through education, advocacy, and amplifying the voices of those impacted by MS.

Our Vision

We envision a world where individuals with Multiple Sclerosis have access to the resources and support they need to lead fulfilling lives. Our goal is to raise awareness about MS and advocate for the rights and needs of those impacted.

Our Programs

Our programs are intentionally designed to support the whole person—mind, body, and community—while advancing awareness and advocacy for those impacted by Multiple Sclerosis.

Through our annual Mental Health Symposium Series, we create safe, empowering spaces for education, healing, and connection. From “Thriving with MS” (2024) to “Living Beyond the MS Diagnosis” (2025) and “The Other Side of the Diagnosis: Caring Through Multiple Sclerosis” (2026), each experience addresses the emotional and mental health journey of living with MS, equipping individuals and caregivers with tools to navigate life beyond diagnosis.

We actively engage the community through health fairs and wellness events, partnering with local organizations, churches, and national institutions to expand access to critical health resources, promote early awareness, and foster meaningful connections.

In addition, our speaking engagements and educational outreach extend our impact by sharing lived experiences, increasing understanding of MS, and advocating for the needs of those affected across diverse audiences.

Together, these programs reflect our commitment to building a supportive, informed, and empowered community where no one faces Multiple Sclerosis alone.

Our Impact

At A Balance for MS Foundation (ABFMS), we are transforming how individuals and communities experience Multiple Sclerosis by bridging the gap between diagnosis and holistic care. By centering mental health, education, and advocacy, we empower MS thrivers and caregivers to move from isolation to connection, resilience, and well-being.

Through culturally responsive programs, increased awareness, and access to critical resources—including financial support for mental health services—we reduce stigma and remove barriers to care. Our work creates safe, supportive spaces where individuals feel seen, heard, and valued.

We are not just supporting those affected by MS—we are strengthening communities, reshaping conversations, and helping people live balanced, empowered lives.
